Didn't want to break the bank at a fancy furniture store, but also don't care for the cheap plastic furniture made for kids. This is an excellent compromise, particle wood to be sure, but very well made, heavy and sturdy, easy to put together (took me, by myself, about one hour). Drawers aren't the smoothest in opening, but sturdier than most others. Nice finish, packaged extremely well.

Gotta love Amazon, free shipping for such a heavy item; this is easily the best price you will find (actually dropped $10 from the $150 I paid for it) anywhere, especially if you consider delivery fees... Thinking of rounding out my daughter's bedroom with the rest of the collection (nightstand, headboard with bookshelves, dresser).

We ordered this bed for our little girl's 6th birthday. She was really looking forward to it! When we peeled it out of its cardboard shell, we realized that several of the weight-bearing boards were splintered in half! We called Amazon customer service only to be told that they would not accept photographic proof of the damaged item, but that we had to go out and find and buy a box big enough to hold this damaged item and then return it. I cannot lift this on my own. The pieces that were not broken are longer than I am tall. Where on Earth am I going to find a box that will fit this?
Tawny C. at Amazon.com customer service doesn't care. She was very smug and unforgiving about the broken bed and sounded highly pleased with herself when I told her that there would be no boxes big enough to hold this item. She happily told me that I could not have the item replaced or refunded, and that I was simply out the $163 that I spent on a broken piece of junk.

We did not have a big budget but needed a new dresser. When this dresser arrived my husband, who is extremely handy, could not believe how many pieces there were. He said it is not a dresser for someone with no experience, and a power drill makes assembly much smoother. Some of the pieces arrived with paint chipping but since we ordered white we were able to touch up those spots, however South Shore was willing to send replacement parts free of charge. The top of the dresser arrived broken due to transit- it was very well packaged but UPS treats everything like garbage, and one phone call to south shore went extremely smooth, and they sent the replacement piece with no questions asked. The quality is what you can expect from a walmart or target piece of furniture. It is compressed wood with a laminate white coating. It is not meant to take a beating. The drawer sliders are plastic, and at first we were concerned but after finishing assembly it is fine! They glide smoothly and fit perfectly. The drawer bottoms have a reinforcement piece which should extend the life and help the drawers not to sag. Overall we are happy with the dresser and would recommend it be used by anyone who will take very good care of it. If you order from Cymax, please know they have great customer service and respond to emails in a timely manner.

This was not what I expected. I know it wasn't the most expensive dresser but for more almost $200 I expected it to be better than Walmart quality furniture. I think I'd have been better off to buy a cheaper one from Walmart and saved myself the shipping charges too. I bought two and have only had them 6 months and the top of one has already come loose from moving it to rearrange the bedroom. It was a pain to assemble and the finish chips easily and so does the wood itself. Its more like cheap particle board. Drawer action is horrible. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Poor quality.

Fantastic Bed, June 2, 2009

I have had this bed for a while now and I must say it's one of the most comfortable I have ever had. Plus, being a platform bed, I can easily slide thin tubs under it for storage. I have so much more space in my room and the bed is just a beauty to look at. If this bed ever wears down, which it shows no sign of doing anytime soon, I will definitely purchase another!!

This is by far the best bed frame I have ever owned. It actually saved my mattress. My previous setup included a framed on wheels, a box spring, and a mattress. With this bed, i was able to get rid of the box spring and frame and it added so much more support to my mattress (my old box spring was giving out). Whoever does the marketing for these beds should be fired. The pictures do it no justice and there is only one picture for the frame even on other websites, but it looks so much better in person.

Also it is not possible to see the "platform" from the one picture provided. This bed is actually 2 pieces. The first is the chrome frame, the second is the platform that just drops down into the frame. This platform is metal square tubing with rounded corners and about 28 wood slats (14 on each side of the center metal support beam). These slats bow up slightly so when you look at the platform it has a shape like a lower case m, but when you place a mattress on it they flatten out.

As previous posters have said, this bed and the box it comes in is HUGE!. I would say the box is about the size of a 6 inch thick King Size Mattress. It is also very heavy (150+ LBS) and since I live in a 3rd floor apartment, it was a struggle to get it upstairs.

Pros:
- Very Sturdy
- Quality build
- Very Good to look at
- Amazon once again gave me the best price around
- Looks like it will last for years

Cons:
- Delivery can be a hassle due to weight and size
- This is not delivered by UPS/Fed ex, because of its size, it was sent to my region by CEVA Logistics and then delivered by forward air, this made it hard to track
- As another review said, My bed arrived with some scratches as well, but there is no way I am going to repackage this thing and send it back
- Picture lies, it does not show the 4 legs that will run down the center and along the base of the platform (you can't use all the space for storage)
- Very heavy (this might not be a con as it gives stability to the bed)

This item is even nicer than it seems in the picture, I love my new bed and it even came with the nice wooden slats (the ones that flex). Be careful though, make sure that you measure everywhere so that you can be sure that the frame can fit up the stairs or in your elevator. The frame is one solid piece and very big. But once its all set up it is great!!

I agonized over which headboard to select for my Fiance and I in our new home. I am happy to say that I definitely made the right choice! This headboard is a great value, constructed very well, looks like it will last for years, and only took my Fiance 20 minutes to assemble. I am thrilled! The only critique would be that the color didn't match the picture exactly.

This item was not even worth $50.00!!!!! The bench & table screws do not hold together, they are the wrong size. I was truly disappointed, and don't have the time to ship the items back.....the entire vanity table, bench and mirror are totally loose and no matter how tight you try to secure the screws, everything is loose and can't be used or sat on. Unbelievable, I will never buy anything I can't see in person.
